These awards invite all interested participants to submit their entries for the R.N. Borooah & Protiva Borooah Memorial Reporting Awards, which honor exceptional journalism in two distinct categories:

  1. Best reporting on environment, tourism, and conservation of nature and wildlife.
  2. Best reporting on the upliftment of the poor and needy.

Eligibility

The awards are open to all journalists, whether working full-time or part-time, including freelance journalists. Participants must have their work published in registered daily, twice-a-week, and weekly newspapers in Assam, written in either Assamese or English.

Submission Requirements

  1. Entries must focus on incidents or events within the geographical context of Assam.
  2. The awards prefer entries with a byline that showcases the journalist’s name. However, if the reports are published without a byline, entrants must provide evidence to establish authorship. All entries published in newspapers should be endorsed by the respective Editor.

Judging Process: A panel of judges, appointed for this purpose, will evaluate all entries. Their decisions will be final and binding.

Submission Timeline: Participants should send photocopies of the articles or news items published between January 1, 2021, and December 31, 2022. Ensure that the publication dates of the entries are clearly mentioned.

Awards

The R.N. Borooah & Protiva Borooah Memorial Reporting Awards, established in memory of late R.N. Borooah, former Editor of The Assam Tribune, and his wife Protiva Borooah, offer a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 (Rupees fifty thousand only) for each category.
