R N Borooah & Protiva Borooah Memorial Reporting Awards

The R N Borooah & Protiva Borooah Memorial Reporting Awards are back, inviting entries for exceptional journalistic work published during the years 2021 and 2022. These awards, instituted in memory of the late RN Borooah, former Editor of The Assam Tribune, and his wife late Protiva Borooah, recognize and celebrate outstanding reporting in two categories:

Categories for Awards

1. Best Reporting on Environment, Tourism, and Conservation of Nature and Wildlife.
2. Best Reporting on Upliftment of the Poor and Needy.

Submission Deadline: All submissions must reach the undersigned by 30th October, 2023.

Cash Prizes: Winners in each category will receive a prestigious cash prize of Rs. 50,000 (Rupees fifty thousand only).

Terms and Conditions

1. The competition is open to all journalists, whether working full-time or part-time, for registered daily, twice-a-week, and weekly newspapers published from Assam in Assamese and English. Freelance journalists are also eligible to participate.
2. Reports submitted must have Assam as the locale.
3. While news items or news stories with journalists’ bylines are preferred, if such reports are published without a byline, candidates/competitors must provide evidence that the content is their own. All entries published in newspapers must be authenticated by the respective Editor.
4. Entries can be submitted by the journalists themselves or by sponsors on their behalf. Entries will be reviewed by a panel of judges appointed for this purpose, and their decision will be final.
5. Entries should be photocopies of articles or news items published between January 1, 2021, and December 31, 2022. Please ensure that the publication dates are mentioned clearly.
